Good day, fellow graduands, the representative of the Skill Development Council Canada, the esteemed Global Masters Institute team and distinguished guest.
It is an honour to stand before you as the valedictorian of our prestigious Class of 2023. My name is Dr Ejiro Oyovwin Foyibo FPSN.
Today, we become graduates with a Postgraduate Diploma in Point of Care Testing to our joy, fulfillment and to the glory of God. This is possible as we have completed the Skill Development Council Canada endorsed course of learning. We are now internationally certified to be torch bearers of the new trend in healthcare.
I want to thank the Global Masters Institute for making the graduation today a reality. The team led by Pharm Opeyemi Ezekiel Akindele made the training process interesting and tried so much to encourage us not to drop by the way side. They were ever ready to listen to us and give explanations to issues raised no matter the time of the day.
I also appreciate the calibre of the members of the Faculty who are wonderful resource persons. They made the training interesting and made us grasp what they taught us easily. Prof Azuka Okpara, Pharm Chidi Okoro, Pharm Folashade Lawal and the others, we are grateful to you. We will remember you all as we utilise the knowledge deposited in us in our practices daily. God bless you all.
To our spouses, parents, children, friends and colleague who encouraged us, I say a big thank you. Your support is well appreciated.
To our great body, the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) and our indefatigable National Chairman, Pharm Adewale Oladigbolu FPSN who partnered with Global Masters Institute to bring the training real time in the beginning at the National Conference of the Association in Asaba, Delta State, we are grateful sir.
This is one of the accomplishments of the Association’s zeal to reposition her members in the new trend in healthcare. We promise not to fail as we are certified to give our practice a new face and direction in all we do.
To the prestigious Postgraduate Diploma in Point of Care Testing Class of 2023, Congratulations to us all. When we started initially, the course appeared simple and easy to study. But as we proceeded, the reality dawned on us that it was not what we thought. We spent time and energy to receive lectures and discussed as a group. We were never in hurry to end our classes.
In preparations for the examinations, we spent hours reading day and night, making calls, listening to recorded online lectures over and over again and so on. For me, I didn’t sleep for three (3) consecutive nights in preparing for the examinations. I couldn’t imagine what I would say to my children if I failed. This gave me the energy to press on. We thank God that all our efforts were not in vain.
We have been trained and now committed to diagnostic accuracy and providing quality healthcare. Wherever we practice, we are now to show the training impacted on us.
Once again, I congratulate us all and say that this is just the beginning.
“Everything begins at the beginning and quite often the beginning begins when you shift your mind in a new direction” Louie Herron.
For our profession, we are the fore bearers, we must not fail her nor fail ourselves. We have made up our minds to begin at the beginning by looking and walking in this new direction and by the grace of God, we shall succeed.
We graduate today, but we remain as a class and family forever. Thank God for social media, let us continue to keep in touch and help one another as we proceed in our practice from now on.
We are graduands with a Postgraduate Diploma in Point of Care Testing. We are now a shining light in our profession. We should be ready to shine and brighten the path of healthcare in Nigeria.
See you all from time to time on our social media group to talk on how well you have extended access to essential laboratory diagnosis in healthcare in Nigeria.
Congratulations!
