At the National Association of Community Health Practitioners Of Nigeria (NACHPN) Conference in Port Harcourt themed “Unmasking Quackery,” Akindele Opeyemi, representing Global Masters Institute (GMI), delivered an enlightening presentation. GMI, the sole entity authorized by the Skill Development Council Canada for the Point of Care Testing (POCT) certification program, empowered attendees with insights into their roles as community health practitioners.
Opeyemi’s presentation not only educated but also reinvigorated health practitioners, reigniting their passion for their profession. Notable dignitaries, including the National President of the association, Comrade Kabir Yahaya Ahmed, and W.H.O. Rivers State Chapter representative Dr. Abosede, attended the conference. Over 1000 health practitioners benefited from Opeyemi’s session, aiming to apply their newfound knowledge to elevate healthcare treatment for their communities.
During his visit to Primavie Pharmacy, Opeyemi witnessed the impact of GMI’s POCT program. The CEO, Pharm Nwakama, invested in training her community pharmacists, resulting in improved patient care. These pharmacists now efficiently conduct essential tests, offering swift and accurate results, leading to better health outcomes for patients.
Pharm Comfort, a Primavie Pharmacy representative, highlighted patient satisfaction due to the convenience and transparency of the POCT services. “Patients appreciate witnessing their test results firsthand, fostering increased trust in the pharmacists. Partnerships with FirstTesta for pre-validated kits and Clinical Intelligence as a reference guide have further strengthened their services”.
GMI continues to enroll candidates for Batch 4.0 of the POCT certification program, open to healthcare professionals like nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and graduates in Microbiology and Biochemistry. The program aims to empower individuals to become community health champions by offering vital diagnostics like Chlamydia, Hepatitis B Genotype, Malaria, and more.
