DID YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO BLEEDS FROM THE NOSE?
If you see an adult or elderly who bleeds from the nose, it could be a sign of hypertensive crisis.
Hypertensive crisis is a sudden spike or increase in high blood pressure.
It could lead to
heart attack
stroke
kidney failure
eye damage
lungs disorder (pulmonary oedema)
And other permanent disabilities
When bleeding from the nose is associated with hypertensive crisis, it means elevated blood has caused blood vessels in the nostrils to rupture or burst.
If a blood vessel ruptures in the nose, the patient may be considered lucky because if such vessel had ruptured in the brain, coma or stroke could be the result.
Stroke happens when a blood vessel supplying the brain ruptures due to elevated blood pressure.
It can happen to people who are not taking medications for their hypertension.
It can also happen to people who skip or suddenly stop taking their blood pressure drugs.
If you or any adult bleeds from the nose, try to check with a physician.
Some drugs like Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Aspirin, Nasal sprays and some diseases like cancer and allergies also cause nose bleeding.
Nosebleeds are not a sign or proof of high blood pressure. However, they can be valued by hypertensive crisis.
